The food is delicious and less oily than their competitors. The food is authentic and reminds me of my grandma's home cookin'. The service is very good and on point when it comes to refills and asking how the food is tasting. Definitely will come back in the future.

This place has a very authentic dish. The fried rice is amazing, they put a lot of scallop and shrimp in it. The beef and broccoli is tasty, the beef melt in your mouth.

Homey Chinese restaurant. Adequate space for a few large tables of 10 customers each. Nothing fancy and all the dishes are big portions, prices are very reasonable, and tasty. Aside from the popular dishes, it also serves Peking duck with buns and sauce. Plus BBQ pork, soya sauce chicken. Most of all we loved the pan patty of fried pork with salty fish. Not many restaurants have this dish, and this place has the best. Not too crispy, not too salty. Just the right texture and flavor. The clams with green pepper and chili sauce, and the 4-season long beans are our favorites . Like a good family dinner? This is the place to try.

This is our go to place. Quality food served quickly. Beef stew clay pot.9/10 tender meat but daikon was not tender. Shrimp with snap peas were great 10/10. Beef chow fun 6/10. Bland, lacking flavor, seasoning and wok hei. Lacking vegetables and The dish appeared plain. Salt and pepper pork 7/10. Perfectly fried and served right out of the fryer. 6/10 The taste of baking soda is prevalent instead of the pork. Service was outstanding and tea service is very good. Oranges for dessert is a nice touch. Will be back to try other dishes.

Hong Kong Restaurant is my favorite Cantonese place in the world. I lived in Hong Kong for 3 years, and still no restaurant eclipses their roast duck. It is crispy, tender, dripping with flavor, some god must have blessed this kitchen to produce such a heavenly delicacy. The servers are kind, generous, and exemplify everything I want to be as a human being. Every time I'm craving something that will knock my socks off, I choose to go to this restaurant. Long live Hong Kong Restaurant!

I would give it one star less but the food is so good. It overcomes the fact that the restaurant is kind of unexciting. I've been here several times and well got me there to begin with was their wonton soup. My daughter and I have been there a couple more times, and we've ordered the fried chicken, the bok choy and garlic, and potstickers. They were all absolutely great. The dishes are very generous and shareable. I'm looking for the next time I go again. Parking is somewhat limited, on the street or a small parking lot on the side of the restaurant. The wait staff is rather perfunctory, but they get the job done.

Hong Kong Restaurant is a true mom and pop shop in Palo Alto. Their extensive menu has a variety options from clay pot dishes to the typical fried rice and chow mein. I called to order a lunch special item to go. The man may not have understood me well or we had connection issues. He shared that the pork spareribs were not available. I assumed it was because the lunch specials are not available on weekends. Thus, I ordered the Roasted Duck with Rice instead. However, when I arrived, he told me the restaurant could make the pork spareribs... I'm not that upset. English may not be his first language but the man still provided great service. The roasted duck was wonderful. It was authentic Chinese food. Though, the cuts and portions were smaller than I preferred. The plate also came with bokchoy and rice. I will most likely go back and try a seating experience. I was in awe how packed the restaurant was on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

I've come by here a few times, more often for a quick dinner than for lunch, and the food is always tasty. Last time I was here, I ordered on a whim szechuan pork. This turned out to be fairly big slices of meat with no breading at all - I prefer it that way - that was tender and moist despite being quite lean. (If, as another reviewer says, this is due to being tenderized with baking soda, then three cheers for baking soda.) It had big chunks of onion and bell pepper - a little too big and a bit undercooked, my only criticism - with a light medium-spicy sauce. That was a satisfactory meal. Open plan seating, a bit noisy when full. The service can be a bit distracted, but they'll get to you.

Love getting some classic Hong Kong style cuisine here over the years, the quality and portion has always stayed consistent! I always order the signature pan fried noodles, the half crunchy/soft noodles are perfect with the sauce and generous portion of seafood they top it off with. The chow fun and clay pot dishes are always a hit too. Super friendly and quick service, love the people who run this restaurant. Ambiance is nice, very accommodating big or small groups. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back.
